Tamsin Greig

Tamsin Greig (born 12 July 1966 in Maidstone, Kent) is an English screen and stage actor celebrated for moving effortlessly between sharp-edged comedy and nuanced drama. With a career spanning television, film, radio, and theatre, she has become a familiar and trusted presence in British storytelling.

Greig is widely recognised for standout sitcom work, including her roles in Black Books and Green Wing, as well as acclaimed performances in Episodes and Friday Night Dinner. She has also brought warmth and precision to character-driven drama, from her turn as Miss Bates in the BBC’s Emma to her appearance in Julian Fellowes’ period series Belgravia.

Her film credits underline the same range, notably as Beth Hardiment in Tamara Drewe, alongside projects such as The Amazing Mr. Blunden and My Happy Ending. Greig’s versatility extends to voice work and documentary-related appearances, including This Is the Sea and Eric Ravilious: Drawn to War.

On stage, Greig is equally distinguished: she won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress for Much Ado About Nothing and earned further Olivier nominations for The Little Dog Laughed and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
