Thomasin McKenzie

Thomasin McKenzie (also credited as Tom McKenzie and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie) is a New Zealand actress born on July 26, 2000, in Wellington. She began building screen experience early, including a small part in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, before emerging as a major new talent in international cinema.

Her breakthrough arrived with the lead in Debra Granik’s acclaimed 2018 drama Leave No Trace, where her grounded, emotionally precise performance drew widespread attention. McKenzie followed that momentum with notable supporting turns in 2019, appearing in The King, Jojo Rabbit, and True History of the Kelly Gang, showcasing a range that moves easily from period drama to dark satire.

In the next phase of her career, she continued taking high-profile, character-driven projects, including M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller Old (2021) and Edgar Wright’s stylish psychological horror Last Night in Soho, which further cemented her status as a leading actress. Her filmography also includes titles such as Eileen (as Eileen Dunlop), Joy (as Jean Purdy), and Grendel (as Queen Wealhtheow).
