Tika Sumpter

Tika Sumpter (born June 20, 1980, in Queens, New York City) is an American screen actor and producer whose career spans daytime TV, prime-time drama, and major studio films. Also credited as Euphemia LatiQue Sumpter, she first gained visibility in entertainment as a television host before transitioning into scripted work.

She broke through on the long-running soap One Life to Live (2005–2010), sharpening the emotional precision that would define her later roles. Her film debut followed with Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming as Nikki, leading to notable supporting turns in projects such as Sparkle (as Delores) and A Madea Christmas (as Lacey).

From 2013 to 2021, Sumpter anchored OWN’s hit series The Haves and the Have Nots as Candace Young, while expanding her big-screen range in Ride Along (as Angela) and the music biopic Get On Up (as Yvonne Fair). She also earned acclaim producing and starring in Southside with You, portraying Michelle Robinson.

More recently, she reached global audiences as Maddie in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, including Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and appeared in the spin-off Knuckles. She also brought her comedic timing to ABC’s Mixed-ish.
