Tim Roth

Tim Roth (also credited as Timothy Simon Roth) is an English actor and director born on May 14, 1961, in London, England. Emerging as part of the celebrated “Brit Pack,” he built a reputation for intense, unpredictable performances that move easily between independent cinema and major studio franchises.

Roth first drew wide attention in early-1980s British television before breaking through on film and earning recognition as a promising newcomer. His career accelerated with standout roles in bold, character-driven features, and he later achieved awards-season acclaim for his work in Rob Roy, including a BAFTA win and major international nominations.

International audiences often associate Roth with his collaborations with Quentin Tarantino, notably as Mr. Orange in Reservoir Dogs and Pumpkin in Pulp Fiction, as well as his turn in Four Rooms as Ted the bellhop. His range also spans memorable roles like Thade in Planet of the Apes and the pianist’s mentor in The Legend of 1900.

Beyond acting, Roth stepped behind the camera with his directorial debut The War Zone. On television, he led the crime-psychology series Lie to Me and later starred in Tin Star.
