Toby Stephens
Toby Stephens (born April 21, 1969, in Fitzrovia, London) is a British screen and stage actor known for bringing intelligence and edge to both prestige drama and mainstream entertainment. The youngest son of celebrated performers Dame Maggie Smith and Sir Robert Stephens, he carved out his own reputation through versatile work across film, television, and theatre.
Stephens gained wide international attention as Bond villain Gustav Graves in Die Another Day, showcasing a flair for charismatic antagonists. His film credits also include Onegin (as Lensky), Mangal Pandey - The Rising (Captain William Gordon), Severance (Harris), Dark Corners (Dr. Woodleigh), Orlando (Othello), and The Great Gatsby (Jay Gatsby).
On television, he has balanced literary adaptations and long-running series, earning recognition for roles such as Jane Eyre, the seafaring epic Black Sails (2014–2017), and Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023–present). With classical training and a modern screen presence, Stephens remains a reliable lead and scene-stealer across genres.
