Todd Black
Todd Black (born February 9, 1960) is an American film producer known for backing mainstream, star-driven dramas and action films that balance commercial appeal with character-focused storytelling.
Across the 2000s and 2010s, Black helped bring several high-profile titles to the screen, including The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009), The Equalizer (2014), Southpaw (2015), and The Magnificent Seven (2016). His work is often associated with polished studio filmmaking and collaborations with major talent.
In 2016, Black produced Fences, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture alongside Scott Rudin and Denzel Washington. He has also appeared as himself in behind-the-scenes and industry programs such as Ma Rainey's Black Bottom: A Legacy Brought to Screen, A Knight's Tale: Making Of, The Piano Lesson: Legacy and a Vision, and Close Up with The Hollywood Reporter.
