Tom Butler
Tom Butler (born February 1, 1951, in Ottawa, Ontario) is a Canadian screen actor whose career spans television movies, genre series, and feature films. Known for steady, authoritative performances, Butler has become a familiar presence across North American productions.
On television, he is widely recognized for his connection to the science-fiction series Sliders, playing Michael Mallory—Quinn Mallory’s father—in the pilot and later returning for the season-two episode Gillian of the Spirits. He also appeared in the TV movie Hostage Rescue Team (2001) as Special Agent David Nelson, adding to a résumé rich in procedural and action-driven roles.
Butler’s film work includes the crime thriller Renegades (as Detective Geddles) and the horror hit Freddy vs. Jason (as Dr. Campbell). He has also featured in cult and family-friendly titles such as Scanners II: The New Order (Doctor Morse) and Life-Size (Phil), demonstrating range across tones and audiences.
