Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise (also credited as Thomas Cruise Mapother IV) is an American actor and producer born on July 3, 1962, in Syracuse, New York. A defining Hollywood star for more than four decades, he has earned major industry recognition, including multiple Golden Globe wins and Academy Award nominations, while helping drive global box-office totals that place him among cinema’s most commercially successful leading men.

Cruise rose quickly in the early 1980s, breaking through with Risky Business and becoming a pop-culture phenomenon with Top Gun. He then proved his dramatic range in acclaimed films such as Rain Man (as Charlie Babbitt) and A Few Good Men (as Lt. Daniel Kaffee), later delivering a widely praised turn in Magnolia as Frank T.J. Mackey.

In the 2000s and beyond, Cruise became synonymous with high-stakes action and science fiction, frequently performing demanding stunts. He headlined Minority Report as Chief John Anderton and War of the Worlds as Ray Ferrier, while his long-running portrayal of Ethan Hunt—seen in Mission: Impossible III and the wider franchise—cemented his status as a modern action icon.

Beyond the screen, he has set notable commercial records, received honors tied to the cultural impact of his military roles, and remained a headline figure for his outspoken support of Scientology. A longtime aviation enthusiast, Cruise has held a pilot certificate since the mid-1990s.
