Tom Kenny

Tom Kenny (also credited as Tom Kenney, Thomas J. Kenny, and Tom J. Kenny) is an American actor, comedian, and prolific voice artist born on July 13, 1962, in Syracuse, New York. He became a defining presence in modern animation through his long-running work as the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants, while also portraying live-action fan-favorite Patchy the Pirate and additional characters tied to the franchise.

Across film, television, and games, Kenny’s vocal range has powered an array of iconic roles, including the Narrator and Mayor on The Powerpuff Girls, Heffer in Rocko’s Modern Life, Dog in CatDog, Ice King in Adventure Time, and Spyro in the Spyro the Dragon video game series. His screen credits also include animated features and specials such as Meet the Robinsons, The Batman vs. Dracula, Hoodwinked!, and Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of the Vampire.

Beyond voice acting, Kenny has worked in sketch comedy on Fox’s The Edge and as a cast member of HBO’s Mr. Show, where he collaborated with Jill Talley, later his wife. He has also appeared as a host on NBC’s Friday Night Videos and Turner Classic Movies’ Funday Night at the Movies, underscoring a career built on versatility and comedic timing.
