Tom King
Tom King (also credited as Thomas Krieger King) is an American screen and comics storyteller born July 15, 1978, in Washington, D.C. A former CIA officer, he later built a high-profile writing career defined by grounded character drama and political tension, becoming a distinctive voice across modern superhero and genre narratives.
King rose to wide acclaim for acclaimed runs and miniseries spanning both major publishers, including Marvel’s The Vision and DC/Vertigo’s The Sheriff of Babylon. He went on to shape key DC titles such as Batman, Mister Miracle, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, earning a reputation for emotionally precise, human-scale takes on iconic characters.
His impact was recognized in 2018 when he won the Eisner Award for Best Writer for his work on Batman and Mister Miracle, sharing the honor with Marjorie Liu. In 2023, DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn named King among the creative architects helping plan the new DC Universe, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow announced as the basis for the feature film Supergirl (2026).
