Tracey Ullman

Tracey Ullman (born December 30, 1959, in Slough, Berkshire) is a British-American screen artist celebrated for her chameleonic acting—especially her rapid-fire transformations, characters, and accents that have drawn frequent comparisons to classic comic greats.

She first broke through in the UK with early television acting, then earned critical attention on the London stage before pivoting into sketch comedy. Ullman became a familiar face on British TV in the early 1980s, winning major recognition for her work, and even enjoyed a brief but notable run as a recording artist with multiple charting singles. By the mid-1980s, she was also making her mark in film, including acclaimed dramatic work that brought awards attention.

After relocating to the United States, Ullman created and headlined The Tracey Ullman Show (1987–1990), a landmark series that famously introduced the first shorts featuring The Simpsons. She later expanded her creative control as a producer and performer on HBO’s Tracey Takes On..., adding to a trophy case that includes multiple Emmy wins, a Golden Globe, and other top industry honors.

On the big screen, she’s appeared in standout titles such as Bullets Over Broadway, Small Time Crooks, Prêt-à-Porter, Jumpin' Jack Flash, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and voiced roles in Corpse Bride. In 2016, she returned to British television with the BBC’s Tracey Ullman's Show, followed by the topical Tracey Breaks the News.
