Tracie Thoms (also credited as Tracie Nicole Thoms; تریسی تامز) is an American actress and singer born on August 19, 1975, in Baltimore, Maryland. Known for her sharp presence and musicality, she has built a career that moves easily between film, television, and the stage.
Thoms is widely recognized for playing Joanne Jefferson in Rent, a performance that highlighted both her dramatic range and vocal talent. On the big screen, she made a memorable impression as Kim in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof, and she has appeared in popular titles including The Devil Wears Prada. Her film work also includes roles in Peter and Vandy, Applebaum, Back to Lyla, I Will Follow, and The Warrior Class.
On television, Thoms has been a familiar face through standout projects such as Cold Case and the cult favorite Wonderfalls. Since 2018, she has held a recurring role on the police-and-firefighter drama 9-1-1, adding steady energy to the ensemble.
