Val Kilmer

Val Kilmer (Val Edward Kilmer; also known as 方·基默 and 方·基墨) was an American screen and stage actor born on December 31, 1959, in Los Angeles, California. He built his craft in theater before breaking through in 1980s cinema, quickly proving he could pivot from sharp comedy to high-stakes action.

Kilmer’s rise was fueled by standout early hits, including the spoof Top Secret! and the fan-favorite Real Genius, followed by mainstream visibility as “Ice” in Top Gun and a leading turn in Willow. That range—witty, intense, and charismatic—became his signature.

In the 1990s he reached a peak of critical and commercial recognition, transforming into Jim Morrison in The Doors, then taking on iconic roles such as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman Forever, Chris Shiherlis in Heat, and the master of disguise in The Saint. He also appeared in films like True Romance and The Real McCoy, reinforcing his reputation as a compelling presence in ensembles and leads alike.

Later work included acclaimed projects such as The Salton Sea, Spartan, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, plus voice and narration performances, including Memorial: Letters from American Soldiers. Kilmer died on April 1, 2025, leaving a filmography defined by bold choices and unforgettable character work.
