Willow Kean
Willow Kean is a Canadian screen artist known for her work in acting and writing, with roots in Labrador West. Alongside on-screen roles, she has built a parallel career for the stage, co-writing children’s plays that have toured across the province and helping bring new stories to audiences beyond the screen.
Her writing has earned notable recognition, including a shortlist placement for the Cuffer Prize and a longlist mention for the NLCU Fresh Fish Award. In 2018, she won the Percy Janes First Novel Award, underscoring her range as a storyteller. In 2021, her five-performer comedy Supper Club premiered at St. John’s LSPU Hall, further cementing her presence in Newfoundland and Labrador’s arts scene.
As an actor, Kean appears in projects such as The Death of Winter (Catherine Winter), Away from Everywhere (Code Nurse), The King Tide (Officer Lucy), and the series SurrealEstate (Elevator Technician). Her credits also include The Tour, Ballad of North Whale, Touch, and voice work in Before the War.
Kean lives in St. John’s with her partner, filmmaker Justin Simms, and their son, Jude.
