Zazie Beetz
Zazie Beetz (also credited as Zazie Olivia Beetz) is a German-American screen artist born on June 1, 1991, in Mitte, Berlin. Known for grounded, charismatic performances, she has built a career that moves easily between indie storytelling and major studio fare.
After early work in short films, Beetz gained her first notable feature exposure with Applesauce (2015). Her international breakthrough arrived in 2016 as Vanessa “Van” Keefer on FX’s Atlanta, a role that earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and helped establish her as a standout presence on television.
From there, she expanded into high-profile films, including the scene-stealing Domino in Deadpool 2 and Sophie Dumond in Joker, later reprising the part in Joker: Folie à Deux. Her range also includes voice work as Diane Foxington in The Bad Guys, alongside credits such as The Undiscovered Country, 5th & Palisade, Double Bind, and The Dutchman.
Beyond acting, Beetz is recognized for using her public platform to support sustainability and environmentally mindful living, aligning her off-screen advocacy with a modern, socially engaged career.
