Amanda Silver
Amanda Silver (born May 24, 1963) is an American screenwriter and film producer best known for her long-running creative partnership with her husband, Rick Jaffa. Married since 1989, the duo began collaborating professionally in the early 1990s and have since become a reliable force behind large-scale studio storytelling.
Silver and Jaffa broke into the modern blockbuster conversation with Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), then returned to help shape the franchise through Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and later producing entries including War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024). Their writing credits also span major tentpoles such as Jurassic World (2015), In the Heart of the Sea (2015), and Disney’s live-action Mulan (2020).
In 2013, the pair were tapped as co-writers for James Cameron’s planned Avatar sequels, beginning with Avatar: The Way of Water (2022). Silver has also appeared as herself in On Story, reflecting her standing as a sought-after voice in contemporary screenwriting.
Her film lineage is notable: she is the sister of actor Michael B. Silver and the granddaughter of screenwriter-producer Sidney Buchman. In 2015, Elle recognized her among Hollywood’s most influential women.
