Andreas Pietschmann
Andreas Pietschmann (born March 22, 1969, in Würzburg, Bavaria) is a German screen and stage actor whose career spans theater, film, television, and voice work. Before acting took center stage, he played youth football for Würzburger Kickers and completed military service with the Bundeswehr—where he first gravitated toward performing.
After appearing in stage productions such as Die Feuerzangenbowle and surviving a serious car accident, Pietschmann committed fully to the craft. He trained at drama school in Bochum (1993–1996), then spent several years at Schauspielhaus Bochum before joining Hamburg’s Thalia Theater for the 2000/2001 season. In 2007, he shifted his focus toward film and television while continuing to work in radio and audiobook narration.
He became widely recognized through the action series GSG 9 – Ihr Einsatz ist ihr Leben, and reached global audiences as “The Stranger” in Netflix’s Dark. His notable credits also include Mary of Nazareth (as Jesus), Belle and Sebastian, Missing, and Altiplano.
Based in Berlin, Pietschmann shares his life with actress Jasmin Tabatabai and their family.
