Antonio de la Torre
Antonio de la Torre (born January 18, 1968, in Málaga, Spain) is a celebrated Spanish screen actor known for bringing grounded intensity and sharp nuance to both mainstream hits and auteur-driven dramas.
Across his career, de la Torre has become one of the most recognized faces in contemporary Spanish cinema, building a filmography that ranges from early work like Hi, Are You Alone? to standout performances in Volver, Torrente: The Dumb Arm of the Law, Una Palabra Tuya, Fat People, Neon Flesh, and On the Edge.
He is also a major presence at Spain’s top film honors: de la Torre holds the record for the most overall Goya Awards nominations. His accolades include the Goya for Best Supporting Actor for Dark Blue Almost Black (2007) and later the Goya for Best Actor for The Realm (2019), cementing his reputation as a performer of exceptional range.
A frequent collaborator with director Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, de la Torre first worked with him on the short film Profilaxis (2003). Their ongoing partnership has helped shape a distinctive run of character-driven stories and some of the actor’s most acclaimed work.
