CCH Pounder

CCH Pounder (born December 25, 1952, in Georgetown, British Guiana—now Guyana) is a Guyanese-American screen and television actor celebrated for commanding, intelligent performances across genres. Also credited as C.C.H. Pounder and Carol Christine Hilaria Pounder, she has built a career defined by authority, warmth, and unmistakable presence.

On television, Pounder became a fan favorite as medical examiner Dr. Loretta Wade on NCIS: New Orleans (2014–2021). Her standout series work also includes Captain Claudette Wyms on The Shield, Dr. Angela Hicks on ER, Tyne Patterson on Sons of Anarchy, and Irene Frederic on Warehouse 13. Her range has been recognized with four Primetime Emmy nominations, spanning projects such as The X-Files, ER, The Shield, and The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.

In film, Pounder’s credits stretch from thrillers to prestige drama, including Sliver (as Victoria Hendrix), Bagdad Cafe, Benny & Joon, RoboCop 3, and Orphan (as Sister Abigail). She also brought iconic gravitas to DC animation as the voice of Amanda Waller, notably in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, a role she has reprised across the franchise.
