Chris Elliott
Chris Elliott (also credited as Chris Elliot and Christopher Nash Elliott) is an American actor, comedian, writer, and director born May 31, 1960, in New York City. Raised in a show-business family—his father, Bob Elliott, was one half of the legendary comedy duo Bob and Ray—Elliott developed a sharp, offbeat comic voice that would define his screen career.
He broke through in 1982 as a writer and performer on Late Night with David Letterman, where his oddball characters became a signature of the show’s early years. That momentum led to his cult Fox series Get a Life (1990–1992), which he created and starred in, cementing his reputation for fearless, unconventional comedy.
Elliott’s film work spans scene-stealing roles in favorites like Groundhog Day (Larry), There’s Something About Mary (Dom Woganowski), Scary Movie 2 (Hanson), Kingpin (The Gambler), and Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (Restaurant Manager), along with credits such as The Abyss (Bendix) and Dance Flick (Ron). On TV, he’s known for recurring turns on Everybody Loves Raymond, How I Met Your Mother, and Eagleheart, and for playing Roland Schitt on Schitt’s Creek, part of the SAG Award–winning comedy ensemble.
Beyond acting, Elliott has authored books, including a memoir about his relationship with his father, and has continued to write and direct throughout his career. He is married to Paula Niedert, and they have two daughters.
