Christoph Waltz
Christoph Waltz (born October 4, 1956, in Vienna, Austria) is an acclaimed screen actor whose career spans European cinema and major international productions. An Austrian performer who also holds German and American citizenship, Waltz is celebrated for bringing sharp intelligence and unsettling charm to complex characters.
His global breakthrough came with Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds (2009), where his portrayal of SS Colonel Hans Landa turned him into an instant worldwide talking point. The role earned him the Best Actor prize at the Cannes Film Festival and a sweep of major honors including BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild recognition, culminating in an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2010.
Beyond that signature performance, Waltz has continued to move between drama, satire, and documentary appearances, showing a willingness to play both fictional figures and versions of himself. His filmography includes roles such as Danny Dolinski in Old Guy, Morasch in Jacob, and Becker in Night Time, alongside self-referential credits like Oh du mein Österreich and Cinema Austria, the first 112 Years.
With a reputation for precision, multilingual ease, and magnetic screen presence, Waltz remains one of the most distinctive actors to emerge from modern European film and thrive on the global stage.
