Dave Bautista

Dave Bautista (also credited as Batista, Dave Batista, or Deacon Batista) is a Washington, D.C.-born screen artist and retired professional wrestler. Born on January 18, 1969, he became a global name by blending imposing physicality with a surprisingly nuanced on-screen presence.

Bautista first broke through in sports entertainment, launching his wrestling career in 1999 and joining WWE in 2000. From 2002 to 2010—and later returning through 2019—he rose to superstardom as Batista, collecting major world titles, winning the Royal Rumble twice, and headlining landmark WrestleMania events. He stepped away from full-time wrestling and ultimately retired following WrestleMania 35.

In Hollywood, Bautista successfully transitioned into character-driven action and blockbuster franchises. He’s widely recognized for playing Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Glossu Rabban in Dune and its sequel, while also earning attention in films such as Spectre, Blade Runner 2049, Glass Onion, and Knock at the Cabin (as Leonard).

His earlier screen credits include roles like Big Ronnie “B.R.” in Wrong Side of Town and appearances across WWE specials including Survivor Series 2005, Royal Rumble 2003, and the RAW 15th Anniversary.
