Edie Falco

Edie Falco (born July 5, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York City) is an American screen and stage actress celebrated for sharp, emotionally grounded performances. Widely recognized as Carmela Soprano on HBO’s The Sopranos (1999–2007), she later headlined Showtime’s Nurse Jackie (2009–2015) as the complicated, charismatic Jackie Peyton. She also made a strong mark on HBO’s prison drama Oz as Diane Whittlesey.

Falco’s film career spans independent standouts and studio dramas, including Laws of Gravity (as Denise), Judy Berlin (as Judy Berlin), The Great New Wonderful (as Safarah Polsky), Freedomland (as Karen Collucci), and The Quiet (as Olivia Deer). Her credits also include The Addiction (as Jean) and the offbeat I Was on Mars (as a female cab driver), underscoring her range across genres.

On television, she continued taking bold character work, appearing in the web series Horace and Pete (2016) and portraying famed defense attorney Leslie Abramson in Law & Order True Crime (2017). On Broadway, her work in the revival of The House of Blue Leaves earned a Tony Award nomination.
