Fisher Stevens
Fisher Stevens (born November 27, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois) is an American screen artist best known for acting, with a career that spans offbeat comedies, thrillers, and prestige TV. Also credited as Steven Fisher and nicknamed “Fisher ‘Super Harp’ Stevens,” he has built a reputation for smart character work and chameleonic roles.
Movie audiences first widely recognized him as Ben Jabituya in Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2, a pair of ’80s favorites that cemented his pop-culture visibility. His filmography also includes memorable turns in Hackers as Eugene Belford (“The Plague”), Anything Else, Factotum, Four Days in September, The Burning, and The Flamingo Kid.
Beyond acting, Stevens has earned acclaim behind the camera as a director and producer. He is an Academy Award–winning documentary filmmaker for The Cove (Best Documentary Feature), and he also directed documentaries such as Crazy Love and Before the Flood.
On television, he is known for long-running roles including Chuck Fishman on Early Edition, Marvin Gerard on The Blacklist, and Hugo Baker on HBO’s Succession. He has also appeared in multiple Wes Anderson projects, further underscoring his range across distinctive cinematic worlds.
