Jon Watts
Jon Watts (also credited as Jonathan Watts) is an American director, producer, and screenwriter born on June 28, 1981, in Fountain, Colorado. Rising from sharp, inventive independent work to major studio filmmaking, he has become one of the most recognizable contemporary voices in blockbuster storytelling.
Watts is best known for steering Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe era, directing Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021). His approach blends character-driven humor with large-scale action, helping define the web-slinger’s modern screen identity.
Before the MCU, he built momentum with features such as Clown (2014) and Cop Car (2015), and later expanded his filmography with Wolfs (2024). He also contributed to comedy television by directing episodes of the satirical Onion News Network.
Beyond narrative films, Watts has directed music videos for electronic acts including Fatboy Slim and Swedish House Mafia. He has also appeared as himself in projects like Spider-Man: All Roads Lead to No Way Home and A Fan's Guide to Spider-Man Homecoming, reflecting his close association with the franchise.
