Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet (also credited as Kate Elizabeth Winslet) is an English screen actor born on October 5, 1975, in Reading, Berkshire. Celebrated for portraying intelligent, resilient, and emotionally layered women—often in independent cinema and period stories—she has earned major industry recognition, including an Academy Award, multiple BAFTAs, Golden Globes, and Primetime Emmys. In 2012, she was appointed a CBE for services to drama.

Winslet trained at Redroofs Theatre School and made her on-screen debut as a teenager in British television before breaking through in film with Heavenly Creatures as Juliet Hulme. Her early acclaim continued with a BAFTA-winning turn in Sense and Sensibility, and worldwide fame arrived soon after with the global phenomenon Titanic.

Rather than chasing blockbuster formulas, she built a reputation for bold choices and nuanced performances, from Finding Neverland (Sylvia Llewelyn Davies) to Little Children (Sarah Pierce) and the romantic comedy The Holiday (Iris). A key pivot came with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, where her Clementine Kruczynski showcased a contemporary edge. Her work across film and television has kept her among the most respected performers of her generation.
