Ke Huy Quan
Ke Huy Quan (also credited as Jonathan Quan, Jonathan Ke Quan and Ko-Wei Kuan) is a Vietnam-born American actor whose career bridges beloved 1980s adventure classics and a celebrated modern comeback. Born on August 20, 1971, in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), he later moved to the United States as a child and quickly found his way onto movie screens.
Quan became a pop-culture favorite as the quick-witted Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, then as the inventive Data in The Goonies. He continued working through the 1990s with projects such as Second Time Around and Breathing Fire, building a reputation for energetic, heartfelt performances.
After stepping away from acting for nearly two decades, Quan stayed in the industry behind the camera, contributing as a stunt choreographer and assistant director. His return began with the family adventure Finding ‘Ohana, before a standout turn in Everything Everywhere All at Once brought him major recognition, including Golden Globe and Academy Award wins—making him the first Vietnam-born actor to earn an Oscar.
Since then, Quan has expanded his range with high-profile appearances and voice work, including Kung Fu Panda 4 and projects like Love Hurts, reaffirming his place as one of Hollywood’s most compelling comeback stories.
