Kim Wayans

Kim Wayans (also credited as Kim N. Wayans) is an American actor, comedian, writer, producer, and director born on October 16, 1961, in New York City. A member of the famed Wayans family—sister to Keenen Ivory, Damon Sr., Marlon, Shawn, and Nadia—she helped shape a distinct era of TV comedy with her sharp character work and fearless sketch performances.

Wayans became widely recognized through Fox’s groundbreaking sketch series In Living Color, where she played a range of memorable roles and showcased her versatility. She later brought that comedic precision to sitcom audiences as Tonia Harris on In the House, and also appeared on series such as A Different World.

On film, she has moved easily between broad comedy and more grounded storytelling. Her credits include A Low Down Dirty Shame, a brief appearance in Eddie Murphy Raw, and voice work as “Momma” in the animated Thugaboo specials. In 2011, she earned praise for a dramatic turn as Audrey in Pariah, which led to a Black Reel Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Beyond acting, Wayans has contributed behind the scenes as a story editor on My Wife and Kids and co-wrote the children’s book series Amy Hodgepodge, extending her storytelling to a new generation.
