Marisa Tomei

Marisa Tomei (also credited as Marisa Veriga Tomei) is an American screen artist born on December 4, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York City. Celebrated for her sharp comedic timing and grounded dramatic work, she has earned major industry recognition, including an Academy Award along with multiple Oscar nominations and other top honors.

Tomei first built momentum on television, appearing on As the World Turns before gaining wider notice in 1987 on A Different World. After early film roles, her breakout arrived in 1992 with My Cousin Vinny, where her scene-stealing turn as Mona Lisa Vito won her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She later received additional Oscar nominations for her acclaimed performances in In the Bedroom and The Wrestler.

Her filmography spans mainstream hits and character-driven projects, from What Women Want and Four Rooms to political drama The Ides of March and biopic Chaplin. In more recent years, she reached a new global audience as May Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing across multiple Spider-Man and Avengers entries.

Beyond film and TV, Tomei has maintained a strong presence on stage, working with theater companies and earning notable recognition for her performances in productions such as Top Girls and The Realistic Joneses.
