Mark Mylod
Mark Mylod (born 1965 in Devon, England) is an English director and executive producer whose career spans sharp British comedy, prestige TV drama, and feature films. He first made his name behind the camera on influential UK comedy series including Shooting Stars, The Fast Show, and The Royle Family, earning two BAFTA TV Awards for his work.
Building on that early success, Mylod moved into episodic drama, directing for high-profile series such as Entourage, The Affair, Game of Thrones, and both the UK and US versions of Shameless. His most defining chapter came with HBO’s Succession (2018–2023), where he directed 16 episodes and served as an executive producer across 37, helping shape the show’s distinctive pace, tension, and dark humor.
That work brought major industry recognition, including an Emmy win for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and a Directors Guild of America Award for drama directing. In cinema, he has directed Ali G Indahouse (2002), The Big White (2005), What’s Your Number? (2011), and the acclaimed The Menu (2022).
He has also appeared on screen as himself in documentary-style projects like Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life and Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic.
