Matt Tolmach
Matt Tolmach (also credited as Matthew Tolmach and known in Korean as 매튜 톨매크) is an American film producer born in 1964 in New York City. He is widely associated with studio-era franchise production, including stewardship of Sony’s Spider-Man universe.
Tolmach’s interest in filmmaking was sparked early through family influence—particularly the stories of his grandfather, producer and film executive Sam Jaffe. After relocating to Los Angeles, he gained hands-on experience working with producer Frank Marshall on a Lance Armstrong documentary directed by Alex Gibney, an early credit that helped shape his producing path.
In 2008, Tolmach was appointed co-president of production at Sony Pictures Entertainment alongside Doug Belgrad, a collaborator he had worked with since 2003. During this tenure he oversaw major tentpoles, notably managing the Spider-Man franchise. He departed Sony in 2010 to focus on producing the next chapter of the series, while Belgrad became sole president and Hanna Minghella took over as president of production.
He is married to director Paige Goldberg, and the couple has one child. Tolmach has also appeared on screen as himself in Rite of Passage: The Amazing Spider-Man Reborn.
