Megan Ellison

Megan Ellison (also credited as Margaret Elizabeth Ellison and Margaret Ellison) is an American film producer and entrepreneur born on January 31, 1986, in Santa Clara County, California. She is widely recognized for backing ambitious, director-driven projects and for helping push prestige cinema into the mainstream conversation.

In 2011, Ellison founded Annapurna Pictures, a production company that quickly became synonymous with bold storytelling and awards-caliber filmmaking. Under the Annapurna banner, she helped bring acclaimed titles to the screen, including Zero Dark Thirty (2012), Her (2013), American Hustle (2013), and Phantom Thread (2017).

Her producing work has been recognized at the highest level, earning her multiple Academy Award nominations tied to these standout films. In 2014, Ellison’s influence extended beyond Hollywood when she was named to Time magazine’s annual Time 100 list of the world’s most influential people.

Ellison’s impact also reaches the stage: she received a Tony Award for Best Musical as a producer of A Strange Loop, underscoring her range across film and theater. She is also the daughter of Oracle founder Larry Ellison.
