Patrick Wilson

Patrick Wilson (also credited as Patrick Joseph Wilson) is an American actor, director, and singer born on July 3, 1973, in Norfolk, Virginia. He first broke through on Broadway in the mid-1990s, earning two Tony Award nominations for acclaimed turns in The Full Monty and Oklahoma!, establishing a foundation in both acting and vocal performance.

He gained wider recognition with HBO’s Angels in America, a prestige miniseries that brought him major awards attention, including Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. From there, Wilson moved fluidly between intimate dramas and studio projects, appearing in films such as The Phantom of the Opera (as Raoul), Hard Candy (as Jeff Kohlver), and Little Children (as Brad Adamson), alongside roles in titles like The Alamo and Evening.

Wilson later became closely associated with modern horror, frequently headlining genre hits—most notably as demonologist Ed Warren in the long-running Conjuring universe—helping cement his reputation as a contemporary “scream king.” On television, he led A Gifted Man and earned renewed acclaim in Fargo Season 2, while also stepping into blockbuster territory as Orm/Ocean Master in Aquaman.
