Zoe Saldaña
Zoe Saldaña (also credited as Zoë Saldana and Zoë Saldaña) is an American screen artist born on June 19, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey. Celebrated for commanding performances in major science-fiction franchises, she has appeared in multiple all-time box-office leaders, and her films have collectively earned well over $15 billion worldwide. In 2023, Time named her among the 100 most influential people.
With a background in dance, Saldaña transitioned naturally into acting, first appearing on television in 1999 with a guest role on Law & Order. Her early film work showcased that physical discipline, notably in Center Stage as ballet dancer Eva Rodríguez, and she gained wider attention in the early 2000s as her range expanded across genres.
She became a defining face of modern blockbuster cinema from 2009 onward, anchoring global hits as Nyota Uhura in Star Trek, Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar films, and Gamora across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Beyond tentpoles, her credits include Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, The Terminal, Vantage Point, Takers, and Guess Who. In recent years, she has led streaming and TV projects such as Netflix’s From Scratch and Paramount+’s spy series Lioness, while earning major awards recognition for Emilia Pérez (2024).
